My child,
So precious,
So tiny,
I hardly knew you.
Like the flutter
of butterfly wings
I felt you move, and
My heart overflowed
With love.
I looked toward the day
I could hold you close,
Count your fingers and toes,
And marvel at such a wondrous gift.
I dreamed dreams for you.
First steps and birthdays,
Bubbles and words,
Hugs and kisses.
But now those dreams
Are replaced with tears,
As I weep for what will not be.
You won't see birthdays and bubbles,
Sunshine and rain,
Butterflies and snow.
The dreams I had for you,
For us,
Lost.
And yet, where you are now
There's no need for dreams.
There's no pain or sorrow or tears
In the arms of the Father.
You are now whole,
Complete,
Perfect.
I don't know why you couldn't stay.
I may never know.
But, Lord, help me to understand.
Help me to understand
Your love for me even now,
The love you showed through Jesus,
When he gave himself for me,
For you are Love.
Help me to have the peace of knowing
That you are in control,
Even when my world is spinning,
For, without you, there is no peace.
Help me to find
Comfort in this time of pain,
For you are the God of all comfort.
My child,
So precious,
So tiny,
I love you. |
