Dear Lord, I need your healing grace
To help me through the trials I face
For, understand I cannot do
Without Your help to see me through.
This pain is real and oh, so strong
And it' s been going on so long.
I know it' s in your will for me
And somehow you will set me free.
I don' t feel like I can endure
Though in your Word, your promise sure
Will keep me going day by day,
Minute by minute all the way.
My love for you must not diminish.
My trust in you, until the finish
Is upheld by unfailing love
That comes from you in heaven above.
For you, my Lord, did suffer much
And mortal man cannot know such
To be our lamb, to save from sin,
To feel your pain we can' t begin.
So let me in my time of trial
Remember Christ's own self-denial;
Remember how he died and suffered,
And let my hurts be soothed and buffered.
For you' ve been there and now you live
And healing comfort you will give
To ease the hurt and dry the tears,
To slow the heart and calm the fears.
For you know pain and you did cry
When your friend Lazarus did die.
You know rejection, sorrow, grief,
And through your wisdom give relief.
So even when I don' t know why,
I hurt and hurt, I cry and cry,
Your work in me is just begun,
I' ll someday be more like your Son.
To be like Christ, that is the goal
And that I know down in my soul.
It takes the hurt to cut away
As vessels come from lumpy clay.
So comfort me, I need that now,
Your cooling hand upon my brow.
Your loving arms around my shoulder
Holding me as I grow older.
Keep from me the doubts and fears
That rob my joy in coming years.
And let me ever walk with you
Until the moment life is through.
Until before you I will stand
And praise you 'neath your outstretched hand
And may your words be kind and mild:
"Welcome home, well done, my child." |
