Who Do You See In Me?

Time

Time.
Blamed for grey hair
Age spots
Baldness
Wrinkles.

Time.
Too much time in the hands of the idle,
Not enough time for the busy.
Too slow for the young,
Too fast for their elders.

If time stood still,
The young couples could stare
Starry-eyed at each other.
Weddings and reunions could go on and on.
No one would grow old,
No one would die.

But if time stood still there would be no future,
There would be no hope.

The infant would never learn to
Walk, to talk;
Always a dependent.

No weekends. No holidays. No birthdays.

The student with no reprieve from school,
No summer vacation.
The teenager, forever in a world of emotions,
Searching, and acne.
The woman in labor, never bringing forth
Her child.

The young mother with toddlers
Always clinging to her knees.
A husband in an unpleasant job,
No promotions.

Imagine timelessness...in a hospital
In a funeral home; In a war.

God, in his grace, mercy, and wisdom,
Gave us time.

Only in the framework of time
Can sinful man find hope and life.
With the passing of time
The infant grows and learns new skills
Special days come, memories are made.
Children grow and mature into young adults.
Times of tumult pass for the adolescent
Babies are born, others conceived.

With time there is hope.
Bodies heal.
Grief subsides.
Reconciliations,
Reunions.

Time gives sinful man
Opportunity to meet and reconcile with God.

As time passes and death arrives,
For the Christian,
Time is but a passage into
Timelessness in Jesus' presence, a
Timelessness where hope is fulfilled.

Until then, I thank God for creating
Time.
