Growth

The hours pass slowly
Until it is night.
Thank you, God,
For another day has passed.
One less day of waiting,
Waiting
Enduring
One day at a time.

I am tired.
I am tired of
Little appetite
Awkward movements
Aches and pains
That accompany pregnancy.

Sleeplessness
Weariness
Slow motion.

Anxious
Discouraged
Worried
Tense
Fearful
Brought on by the strain
               and hormones of pregnancy.

The hours pass slowly
But they pass.
One more day is over,
One more day of my life
Has passed.

One more day when I prayed for
A positive attitude
Endurance
Strength
And health.

Another day to mark off the calendar.
Another day wherein
The Lord sustained me.
For though I am weak
I am stronger than a few weeks ago.

Not much longer and
This stage will be over.
A new child will enter the world;
A new child will enter my life.

A child long waited for
Whose long journey
Sent me on a journey
Of my own.

One of learning to trust God more
One of increased prayer
One of more openness with others
Whom God sent to encourage.

Baby,
As you grew,
So did I.
