Excuses, Excuses

I am really not that bad
And I think I'm rather good.
I even like my brothers
And I do just what I should.
I'm not bad like my neighbor
Who is living right next door.
I do not cheat on my wife...
Well, at least not any more.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:12

I don't believe the Bible
And I don't believe in hell.
I don't believe in God himself
Nor Jesus Christ as well.
Don't talk about salvation
It is all nonsense, you see.
For when I die, there is no more,
T'will be the end of me.

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."
Psalms 14:1

Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.  Hebrews 9:27

How can a God who's loving
Judge a man who's never heard?
And the heathen of the world
Who have never read a word?
Do not tell me that they're doomed
For that surely cannot be.
A God of love could not do that,
He couldn't now, could he?

Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:19-20

A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. Deuteronomy 32:4

You say your God has power
But that power I don't see.
For I see so much awful crime
And murderers go free.
And if he is a God of love,
Then how can he stand by
Allowing children to be hurt,
And listen to them cry?

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. Romans 1:28

I have my own religion
And to church I do belong.
On Easter and on Christmas
I will go and sing a song.
But in daily life, you see,
I will do it my own way;
But into heaven I will slip,
I'm sure I will some day.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me." John 14:6

They will say I am real crazy,
All my friends, the boss, the guys.
And to give up my new status,
I'm not sure that it is wise.
All my family would laugh...
There is too much I would lose.
But I'll think about it later
For today I cannot choose.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:36-37

I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.  II Corinthians. 6:2

There are errors in the Bible
And there's hypocrites in church.
The words I do not understand,
They leave me in a lurch.
And all educated men
Seem to do so very well
Without the thought of heaven
And without the thought of hell.

If any one chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. John 7:17

For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. II Peter 1:21

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe...For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom. I Corinthians 1:21,25

I'm too bad to be forgiven
And I have been all my life.
Bad things seem to surround me,
I cause misery and strife.
There is no hope for one as I
And maybe just as well,
I surely would feel out of place
In anywhere but hell.

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Mark 2:17

So you see that your excuses
Do not stand before the Lord
And he waits for your decision
As is written in his Word.
So repent and ask forgiveness
And believe Christ died for sin,
Then rose again, he lives today,
He's waiting to come in.

So don't let your excuses
Keep you from the choice at hand.
And don't let pride and sin
Keep you from the promised land.
Satan wants your soul, but God above
Has given you the choice.
So...be silent, wait, and go to hell,
Or to Jesus lift your voice.
