Vacation with Baby

Baby's sick.
It's something new.
Not quite sure
What I should do.

He picked a time
When we were gone.
How am I
To carry on?

When we get where
We've planned to stay
I call the doctor,
Miles away.

What should I do?
I ask the nurse.
I surely haven't
Seen him worse.

The doctor calls me
Back in time,
Relays instructions
Down the line.

I give him liquids,
Keep him dry.
Hold him when
He starts to cry.

Give baby time,
That's what it takes
When baby has
Bad tummy aches.

Baby's better.
Vacation's done.
Maybe next year
We won't take one.
